In the vote on the future of the semester ticket, a total of 584 out of 3958 eligible votes were cast.
That is a participation rate of 14.75%.

The evaluation was carried out in multiple steps until one option had a two-thirds majority or there were no options left. Ballots with no numbers (after elimination of the options) were counted as abstentions. In the first step, the options labelled ‘1’ were counted. The option with the fewest votes (no semester ticket) was then eliminated and the votes were redistributed according to the next highest score. As this redistribution was not sufficient for a two-thirds majority, the remaining option with the fewest votes was eliminated (Thuringia-wide semester ticket) and the votes were redistributed again accordingly.
In the final step, the last two options were the federal semester ticket or abstention. After the final count, 515 out of 584 votes were in favour of the federal semester ticket, which was therefore accepted. The course of the count can be seen in the following graphic.
